How to Choose a USB-C Charger and Cable for Your Phone

By White Apple Communications

A charger and cable need to work together with your phone. Start with the connector on each end, then compare the phone’s supported charging protocol and power requirements. A USB-C port alone does not tell you the charging speed, data speed or other features a product supports.

1. Match the charger port and cable connectors

A USB-A to USB-C cable connects a USB-A charger to a device with a USB-C port. A USB-C to USB-C cable needs a USB-C source port and a USB-C device port. Check both ends before ordering; these cable types are not interchangeable at the charger end.

White Apple lists Voco L-01ac as USB-A to USB-C with charging support up to 15W, and Voco L-01cc as USB-C to USB-C with charging support up to 60W. Both list data transfer, but a data-speed rating, cable length and video-output capability are not specified.

2. Compare power and charging protocols

USB Power Delivery allows compatible equipment to negotiate the power it needs. Check that the phone, charger and cable support the required charging setup. A higher maximum wattage on the charger does not mean every phone will charge at that wattage.

Model Maximum power Ports / output Charging technology Fast-charging protocol
Voco P-01 12W USB-A Not listed Not listed
Voco P-02 20W USB-A + USB-C GaN Power Delivery 3.0
Voco P-03 30W USB-A + USB-C GaN Power Delivery 3.0

The P-01 lists a USB-A output and includes a USB-A to USB-C cable. The P-02 and P-03 list USB-A plus USB-C ports, GaN technology and Power Delivery 3.0. Their per-port output and simultaneous shared-power figures are not specified in the catalog.

3. Check the complete charging setup

A cable rated up to 60W does not turn a 20W or 30W charger into a 60W charger. Likewise, a charger’s maximum output is a ceiling rather than a guaranteed result for every device. Use the manufacturer’s charging requirements for your exact phone model when selecting the adapter and cable.

Before you order

  • Check your device port and the charger port.
  • Confirm the phone’s charging protocol and required output.
  • Check the cable’s listed charging limit.
  • Check whether a cable is included with the charger.
  • Confirm cable length or data speed if either is essential for your setup.

Browse chargers and adapters and charging cables for current PKR prices and individual specifications. Device-specific compatibility has not been tested for this guide.

Can one charger charge two devices at full power?

Only if its output specifications support that combination. The listed Voco dual-port chargers do not provide a shared-power breakdown, so confirm it before relying on simultaneous maximum output.
